I had sworn off of braided line for the past 20 years. But I recently started using it again, and that is why I’m writing this mpeter Armor Braided Fishing Line Review.

Way back in the 1990s I remember when spectra-based fishing lines hit the bass fishing scene. They were all the rage, with people in awe at the massive strength of these new “super lines”. It seemed like every line manufacturer on the planet came out with their own version of “the best braided fishing line”.

I actually bought my first spool of it not too long after it started being marketed to bass anglers. I gave it a try for a while. I even tried Berkley Fire Line, which wasn’t braided, but touted as a fused super line.

After trying them each for several months, I slowly un-spooled them all and went back to mono. I didn’t hate these new lines. But I just didn’t see the advantages for the style of fishing that I did the most.

Fast Forward to 2015

After not using braid for all those years, I started considering it again. I was fishing with some new baits and using different techniques that I thought braid might give me an advantage in. But I still put it off. I thought about it a lot and justified not buying it because I fish in a lot of lakes with a lot of rocks and boulders. And we all know that braid and rocks don’t mix well.

Still, I watched the market and talked with other anglers to see if they were using braid, and what they thought of it if they were using it. And most of the feedback I got was very positive.

How About in 2019?

Well, here we are in 2019, and I’m sitting here writing this mpeter Armor Braided Fishing Line Review. So, I guess you have surmised by now that I finally gave in and tried braided fishing line again!

Yep. I bought a spool of braided line and gave it a try. I wasn’t very happy with the first brand I tried. So I tried another brand, which turned out to be mpeter Armor Braided Fishing Line.

After using it for the last several months, I can give you an accurate review of this line because I have caught lots of fish on it under a wide vareity of conditions, using a handful of different baits and techniques.

Let’s Talk About the mpeter Braided Line

When I bought this new line, I had a few different applications in mind. My first was to use it on the rod that I use primarily for fishing bladed jigs (Chatterbait-style lures) that I make myself. I fish in a lot of weedy areas, so ripping the bladed jigs through the weeds is a good tactic to get reaction strikes from big bass.

The only problem I had been running into with this technique was that I was fishing with mono, which stretches, so ripping the baits from the weeds wasn’t the easiest thing to do. Braid would fix this problem for me, in addition to allowing me to feel the bait better.

When I spooled the 50 lb. test mpeter braid onto my reel, I immediately liked it. It was limp and supple, but it felt strong. It was also a reasonable diameter. The other braid that I had tried didn’t have this same feel.

I also liked the gray color. It would be easier for me to see than the moss green that I typically use.

On The Water

My first trip out using this line proved that I had made a good choice. The line behaved perfectly on my casting reel, with no backlashes at all. And I also had no trouble at all with the line digging into itself on the spool, even after setting the hook hard.

It’s sensitive, which is part of any braided line’s characteristics. And it has almost zero stretch, so I could easily rip my bladed jig free of weeds the very second I felt it make contact.

The mpeter line also gives me bone-jarring hooksets!

A Friend of Kermit

But there are some things that we need to overcome as bass anglers when we fish heavy cover with hollow body frog baits. First, we need line that’s rugged. Second, that line should have no stretch. Third, it should be able to cut through the junk when hauling a big bass through heavy cover.

The mpeter braided line does all of that. And it does it very well.

Back in June I fished in a tourney where my pre-fishing and scouting had shown me that the best chance I had to win was to fish frogs in pads and various slop. So that’s what I did. At that time, I didn’t have a heavy action rod rigged with braid. So I used my Lew’s Carbon Fire MH casting rod that I usually use for bladed jigs.

I chucked a Booyah Pad Crasher frog all day and ended up winning. The mpeter braided line was key to helping me land the fish that I hooked. It performed flawlessly.

Other Applications

As I mentioned, I have also used this same line for bladed jigs. And I have recently added a medium action casting rod to my arsenal, spooled with this line, for fishing with Stanley Ribbit Frogs. These types of frogs are a bit lighter in weight and get fished in less heavy cover, so I opted for the medium action rod for these.

Final Thoughts

I bought this line because it was cheaper than many other brands of braided line. And most of the other reviews that I had read were positive. So I gave it a shot and was very pleased with my purchase.

I honestly have found no negatives when it comes to the mpeter mpeter Armor Braided Fishing Line. It didn’t bleed terribly when I first started using it. Knots stay in pplace. I use the Palomar knot with braid, so be sure to use that knot also!

The color has held up very well. It has no stretch and it holds up over time, with no fraying or signs of weakness. It behaves itself well on my casting rods and reels. I have had zero problems with backlashes. The only line I have had to cut off was when I took one lure off and tied on a different lure!

In fact, everything I have to say about this line is 100% positive. And it costs less than most other braided line, so it’s a win/win for you if you choose to buy it.
