Overview

The Minn Kota Maxxum Bow Mount Trolling Motor is built to last. The Maxxum features tournament-tested power and innovative fishing features so you can get the most out of every day on the lake.

Rough conditions or treacherous stump fields should never keep you off the water. The tournament-tested Maxxum Mount plows through any obstacle. When you stow the Maxxum, you can rest assured that our mount won't budge, flex or vibrate. The Bowguard 360 breaks away on impact from any angle, then automatically resets itself. You get uninterrupted fishing and an extra safeguard from damaging your trolling motor or boat. It also detaches for added convenience. Pound for pound, the Industrial Composite Shaft is stronger than steel. It flexes on impact and won't break, kink or corrode. It's the only trolling motor shaft that's guaranteed for life.

A newly-designed, ultra-responsive foot pedal is easier to operate, with more room for your foot and more exact speed control.

Digital Maximizer controls and optimizes power to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat. You'll stay on the water up to five times longer on a single charge. Nothing runs cooler or more quietly than a Minn Kota. The extra large windings and commutators dissipate heat, resulting in cooler operation, extended battery power, and longer motor life. And the unique bearing system reduces friction to cut fish-spooking noise. So quiet, they'll never hear you coming.

Comes with a Weedless Wedge 2 Prop.

Comments: I've had the 70 lb for 5+ years and ANYONE who has issues with this unit is crazy!!  I beat the crap out of mine fishing rivers, grinding through shallow river beds, hitting stumps and rocks and just yesterday I approached the bank to get off boat and forgot to raise the MK, NO damage and NO kinking of shaft, grant it i was idling but still.....  I can honestly say you cant be harder on a trolling motor than me UNLESS you are purposely trying to trash it and it ALWAYS comes back begging for another beating just like a good mule, LOL.

Comments: I upgraded my Minnkota from a 70 to an 80 lb thrust on my ranger 185DC 2years ago and have not had one issue with this motor.  I fish rivers and find this motor will last all day, unless we have flooding conditions.  I love the composite shaft as I normally fish shallow and n get into pretty skinny water and hit rocks when I do this especially in rivers.  Their customer service is awesome and prompt if I have questions on any of my products.  I have added several other Minnkota products to my boat and feel I am ready to fish any body of water.

Comments: Ordered on a Monday received by Friday. Love the free shipping and no tax. Bought this to replace
A Maxxum 70/SC only 3yrs. old, got water in motor. TW had 15% off. Mounted right up With old holes. Runs smooth and quiet. Variable speed works great can turn with foot. Worked great on my Stratos 186.

Comments: I was torn on the reviews by buying the 80 thrust Maxxum. Since the lake I mostly fish is full of trees and stumps.. I've used the 55edge for my 12' John boat and was very impressed with its durability. But upgrading this year to a 16' John boat I wanted something bigger so I took my chances and bought the 80 Maxxum. This trolling motor is awesome!!!! I'm not really sure of the bad reviews this motor has gotten because I have hit stumps at about 60% motor speed and the 360 break away mount does what it's suppose too!! If your bending our breaking this motor then you must be going 80 to full power and with how heavy most boats are its no wonder why your bending our breaking this motor, any motor would bend doing that! I differently recommend this motor!!

Comments: I have had a so-so relationship with this motor. I have the 70lb, variable speed, 42" shaft on my aluminum bass boat. Love the power. I can run most of the time on 30-40, unless the winds howling the I only need 50-60. Chops and goes through heavy weeds 1000 times better than my old Motorguide. I can fish all day for 10 hours + in the wind, weeds, current and not put a dent in my batteries, and I only run 2 smaller group 24 size deep cycles because of limited space in my boat. My only gripe, and it is due in part to operator error, is how easy the shaft on the armature is to tweak when  the prop hits an obstruction.  I bent on real bad last fall, had it replaced, then tweaked another this spring, and also had it replaced. Thank god I have a good TM repair man local who stocks them. Never had that issue with my MG, which I fished in the same shallow, nasty, weed choked, wood/rock filled water. I guess I just have to be a little more "carefull" with the MK.
